Setter

About the Role

We are seeking a technically skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our manufacturing team as a Setter. In this role, you will be responsible for setting stones in a variety of jewellery pieces using precious metals from silver to platinum. You will work across a broad range of setting styles, including claw, rubover, channel, and grain, as well as marking out and setting from blanks.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a high level of accuracy, and the ability to work independently. Flexibility, adaptability, and a strong commitment to meeting customer expectations are key. Previous experience in jewellery manufacturing is highly desirable, along with strong hand-eye coordination and a genuine passion for high-quality craftsmanship.

Role Responsibilities

  • Work to set lead times, handling a variety of precious metals and stones- including customer-supplied stones.
  • Confidently set stones across a wide range of styles and settings, including claw, rubover, channel, and grain. Ability to mark out and set from blank is essential.
  • Interpret and work from specification sheets to ensure pieces meet customer requirements.
  • Liaise with the CAD team to clarify bespoke customer requests and ensure accurate execution.
  • Inspect all stones upon receipt and report any imperfections to the Production Administrator or Workshop Coordinator before setting.
  • Perform quality checks on your own work prior to submitting to final QC, ensuring each piece meets high standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workbench, ensuring tools are kept in good working condition and fit for use.
  • Sweep down workbench area at the end of each shift and ensure that debris collected is sent for refining.
  • Support and uphold a safe and healthy working environment in line with company policies and standards.

Qualifications and Education

  • Jewellery bench work qualification or equivalent experience.
  • GCSE English-sufficient to read the production tickets.
  • GCSE maths-sufficient to understand basic technical drawing and transpose dimensions to the product.

Location:

  • Birmingham (3-8 Vyse Street, Hockley, Birmingham, B18 6LT)

Salary:

  • Negotiable/dependent on experience

Working Hours:               

  • 37.5 hours per week, 07:15 am to 15:15 pm or 08:00 am to 16:00 pm.
